This is s short brain surgery video I found on youtube, what makes it bizarre and yes sick is not the surgery itself, but rather the commentary during the surgical procedure. Now I don’t know who really says it, but I am hoping it’s not the surgeon. The video itself is the removal of a brain tumor.

This is gruesome… An almost amputated hand is surgically re-attached. The x-rays show the bones cut through and the photo shows the post surgery result. This cat may need a bit of plastic surgery to fix the scarring. It does look a bit Frankenstein-ish. If you look at the xray, you can see the hand was only held by skin because all the bones were broken all the way through.

Here is the post op result. Ouch

So its been some time now since the operation that removed 11 lbs. of bone and tissue of the man with the world’s largest hand, Liu Hua of China. Somehow it seems that all the majority of crazy birth deformations are centered around China. Maybe it is time for Chinese industry to stop polluting the air these people breathe (China is the most polluted country in the world) and cut down on the extreme birth defects and deformed babies.

Anyway, Liu had some extreme plastic surgery and I can not find any info about how he is now.  but here is the story from 8/2007

From the Shanghai daily article last year:

poor Dede, talk about not catching a break in life. Dede has an extremely rare condition that causes sick looking giant woody type warts to grow all over his limbs. The grotesque warts make him look like a tree because his body looks like bark, he is now called the treeman.

Here is Dede the treeman trying to light a cigarette around the strange and bizarre deformations on his hands

Dede is now undergoing surgery to remove the growths, so far 4 lbs. of ugly warts have been surgically cut away and Dede can almost use his hands and feet

From the telegraph news site and discovery channel The images, taken in an Indonesian hospital, show him using a mobile phone and eating and drinking unaided. Around 4lbs of warty horns have been removed from his limbs, allowing him to use his hands and walk without pain for the first time in 20 years.

I must admit that stuff like this :: giant tumors that are allowed to grow unchecked, just boggle my mind. Yes, I feel incredibly sorry for an individual who has a facial tumor the size of a basketball, but WTF? Why are they waiting until they can no longer breathe to get medical attention? This ma is only now seeking medical help… after 35 years of tumor growth! The man is 50 years old or so and the giant facial tumor started as a birthmark that grew after puberty.

giant facial tumor man with no face

here’s the story from Discovery

For the past 35 years, 51 year-old Jose Mestre, from Lisbon, has been losing his face to a massive growth, distorting it out of all recognition – The giant tumor facial deformation is still growing.

The tumour on Jose’s face is a vascular malformation, a collection of blood vessels that have expanded, producing a raised red area on the skin. Jose was born with a strawberry-coloured birth mark on his upper lip; at puberty his face started growing, eventually smothering his lips, nose and one of his eyes. It’s now about 33cm long and weighs around 3kg.

giant-facial-tumor.jpgSurrounded by a loving family, it seems incredible that he has not been treated and his face was allowed to grow so big. However, through years of medical misinformation, some misdiagnosis, lack of finances, and reluctance to undergo treatment due to religious beliefs, the growth has continued to obliterate his face.

The doctors could have operated to remove the growths but the patient is a Jehovah’s Witness so could not accept blood from another.

They want to be beautiful and will go to nearly any length to get there. But, there are two problems — they are teenagers and they are willing to or have already undergone plastic surgery in the process. Are they too young to go under the knife?
Special “Maury” correspondent Egypt reports on Christie, 16, who believed she needed both breast implants and liposuction. Then, with the approval of her mother, Feliziana, 14, underwent multiple cosmetic surgeries to give her the look she desires. Extreme Teen Plastic Surgery on today’s “Maury.”

It’s a real show in Holland… It’s a video of a Dutch interviewer who is interviewing a man on a LIVE TV ( Dutch version of 60 Minutes )on “surgeries gone wrong”. This man had a surgical team inadvertently remove his testicles.

I think the interviewer could have handled the facts but it was the man’s voice that appears to have set him off. Watch a veteran reporter’s career go down the drain in about 30 seconds.

It doesn’t need to be in English to understand what is happening..
